Steps to follow after the event occurs

Limit the extent of the loss

Take all reasonable measures to prevent the loss from worsening and to protect any property that has not been affected.

Notify the competent authorities

Depending on the nature of the event, contact the competent authorities (homeowners' association, Police, Fire Department, etc.) and request documents concerning the causes and circumstances of the insured event.

Keep evidence of the event

Take photographs of the damaged property and the place where the event occurred. Do not carry out permanent repairs before the loss has been inspected, except for measures needed to limit the damage.

Report the loss to GENERAL ASIGURĂRI

Contact the company as soon as possible to register the event and open the claim file.

Required documents

Depending on the type of event

Identity card of the insured person

Copy of the insurance contract (policy)

Copy of the document proving insurable interest in the insured property (ownership deed, rental agreement, purchase invoices, etc.)

Power of attorney (for individuals) or authorisation/delegation (for legal entities), signed and stamped by the insured

if the person taking part in the notification or inspection of the loss is someone other than the insured person

Sketches or plans of the damaged home

Depending on the loss involved

In the event of accidental water leakage from pipes

you need to contact the homeowners' association; if another person is at fault, you must contact the Police

In the event of theft or vandalism

you must report the case to the Police

In the event of fire

you must provide the report issued by the Fire Department

In the event of loss caused by atmospheric phenomena or flooding

you must request a statement from the National Meteorological Administration
